The Boston Celtics are the franchises that are undoubtedly the World champions in the history of professional football. These achievements are worthless to mention without mentioning their all-time heroes. Bill Russell anchored the team and helped them to win eight successive championships from 1959 to 1966. He contributed majorly to the sport and took the defensive play to a new horizon. He is also considered to be the greatest defensive center . He played in the Celtics uniform from 1956 to 1969, winning the NBA championship every year except 1958 and 1967. He served as player and coach from 1967 to 1969. He is also a recipient of almost all the NBA honors that exist. Larry Bird is considered as one of the best players of all time. He holds the credit for changing the game completely in unison with Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson .He played as a small forward for the team for his entire 12-year career. He was having an added advantage of his ideal size which was virtually beneficial for all the aspects of the game. He was one of the league's most accurate shooters. He was also an excellent passer and a strong defensive player.

    
 

Bob Cousy played the position of guard with the Boston Celtics from 1951 to 1963 . He led his team to six championships, including the 1957 one and five consecutive titles, from 1959 to 1963. He is the Celtics' all time assist leader with 6,955 assists. He was chosen as one of the NBA's 50 greatest players of all time. Wayne Embry was not inducted as a player; he was the first African-American to serve both as a general manager and a team president in the NBA. Tom Heinsohn signed Boston Celtics in 1956. He won eight NBA titles in nine years. He retired as number 15 by the Celtics. After his retirement, he became the Celtics' head coach. He led the team to a league best 68-14 record during the 1973 - 1974 season. Bill Sharman was acquired as a Celtics player and as a coach. William Theodore Walton III was among the Celtics key players. In 1996, he received the NBA Sixth Man Award . The list of achievers also includes the names of John Thompson, Pete Maravich, Danny Ainge, Antoine Walker, Walter Brown Red Auerbach etc.
